Having gone off topic with it on WAWW I thought I would give this great song a thread of its own .

Somewhere over the rainbow- way
up high
in the land
that I heard of once
Once in a lullaby

Somewhere over the rainbow- skies
are blue
and the dreams
that you dare to dream
really do come true

Someday I'll wish upon a star
and wake up
where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
away above the chimney tops
that's where you'll find me

(Instrumental)

Someday I'll wish upon a star
and wake up
where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
away above the chimney tops
that's where you'll find me

Somewhere over the rainbow
skies are blue
and the dreams...that you dare to dream
really do come true
If happy little bluebirds fly
above the rainbow, why
Oh, why can't I?

I can't answer that because I don't understand it either.

I literally had goose bumps when I first saw this performance. Absolutely magical.
It definately should be higher in the rankings.

I much prefer this performance to WAWW. It was to me far more emotional and magic. I think that because it was the first duet it kind of took the prize of great magical moments in ones life. It should have been the song released as a single, I'm not entirely sure the second song should have been made.

I'm not so keen on "Duet Impossible" events. I'm living in the present and not in the past.

So in that case anything sung by an artist who is deceased should be discounted?
And surely the present is a result of all the things that have happened in the past. Memory of past events is one of the things which makes music so important in our lives, indeed music becomes inixtricably linked to our past from the time it is first heard.

I grew up listening to Eva Cassidy, because my mom has always been a huge fan of hers. Somewhere over the rainbow was one of my favorites.. And I really like this duet as well.

I'm just heard it for the first time... I'll have to listen to it again, but I like the emotion Katie put in it and the way she looked at Eva when she sung...

Shall I try? It’s been sung some time ago, there is no real record of this song and some people don’t have a MP3/similar excerpt of it. Or they don’t listen to it too much because there is no studio version. Or.. don’t know exactly. It’s kind of more obvious to rate studio versions higher than these songs, IMO.
It’s definitely a very good duet and very special. I don’t know where I rated it but I’m quite sure it’s too low in the ranking. :D

It's actually number 3 in my ranking. Which is actually more accurate of how much I love it.

I do love that song. That Duett Impossible was really magic. Unbelievable.

Who would dare that? :P :joyjoy:
No, it's in fact always the same thing with such real classics, I do not like such songs to be covered, especially if the result sounds very different from the original. Just because the original one has its place in the history of music and I feel a bit uncomfortable with other artist then touching upon it. WAWW and Lucy in the sky with diamonds I do like, however. I think Katie is the only one whom I can easily forgive to "assault" such classics. In case of "Lucy in the sky with diamonds" I do not remember how the original version sounds, actually. And with WAWW, that's almost a completely new song as it was originally sung by a male artist, so that's somehow OK then.

When Katie makes a cover (O.K. a new version), she makes a totally new song out of it, her version and in every time, this version is much better that the original.

IMHO you have to do that, i.e. make a new totally different song out of it, otherwise it simply makes no sense. Why not buying the original than.
