they say we never landed on the moon
there's no wind there, they assume
i guess conspiracies are nothing new
but I'm sure I've been there with you.

and I don't believe that in space
the only life is here on earth
how could we be the only race
that loves and hates 'til death from birth?

but I do believe in love
though I should never rely on love
nothing else excites me
but loving you

is it true a politician's heart
can rust away and fall apart?
I guess it must be hard oh it must be hard
to know what's good
and to know what's easy

you might think it's strange
for all my wild ideas
but I do not believe that change
can ever happen without tears

but I do believe in love
though I should never rely on love
nothing else excites me
but loving you

Lyrically the rhymes are very smart. I was never a poet but I imagine there is a name for this style of rhyme. And it is sung in the way that all slow album ending songs should be sung.... it just kinda lets you drift, and before you know it you are in silence and have to press the play button again. And it all comes round again.

I also love it. Nevertheless it's a classical song but I don't miss the magic of Katie here, and that may be what it's so wonderful. However, the way she sings the begining of the song is better in the album version in my opinion. I prefer when it's more ad lib. I remember that the version in the gig at Paris was magical, the beginings more calm... but one more time we can see the talent of Katie. Even if I think that her way of starting is kinda awkward, she sings so amazingly that we forget everything but the beauty of the song...

Yeah I always have the impression that this song is very short and I have to repeat it again and again, but actually, it's lead with such a magic that times is no more while listenning to it... :music:

This is another Katie classic.

I remember that we all discussed if she could play this song live someday, and how amazed we were when she finally did a few months later

This was one of the highlights during her last tour.

Next time I hope she uses the piano a bit more :approve:

I agree with you this song is wonderful! The piano version she did at the recent tour is absolutely great! I love the intro with the piano!

In Vienna I had the big honor the stand exactly at this song very near infront of the stage for photographing :) :)

I agree with you about the piano, I love everything Katie does on the piano.

This song is TOP of my Katie rankings. I don't understand anything about the awkwardness at the beginning at all. To me this performance of I Do Believe in Love is completely perfect.
Like others have said, I just play it over and over. Those last perfect notes on the piano before the lights go out: unbelievable. I always have tears in my eyes after this  It's totally brilliant.

I haven't seen the version that she's done on the tour, I'll have to see if I can find it because as I have said I love the way she sings this song.

There is something about the lines:

"Is it true a politician's heart
can rust away and fall apart?
I guess it must be hard oh it must be hard
to know what's good
and to know what's easy"

That I just love.

As usual, one of her best songs ever! I know i've said this before, I love the end where she modulates through different keys to arrive back at the original key of the song. A very difficult technique to master but she comes through brilliantly. A perfect ending to the album Pbp. Still one of my best songs of all time. :approve: :approve: :approve:

This songs gets better the more you hear it: beautiful and warm, Katie vocals here shine very bright. You can see from my signature how much I like it. ;) Another track that will surelly become a live standard.
She looks quite adorable on the piano whilst playing it BTW.

I don't have much to add... The album version is great and the way Katie sings it with the piano is just magical

Never liked it very much on the album and used to skip that song. But her live performance in Hannover was so outstanding (she's so amazing on the piano, why does she prefer the guitar?? :( ), as I wrote in the concert report, it was a complete emotional overkill. Now I also like the album version, although it does not belong to my top favourites.

Maybe because she's better at the guitar, I mean she has a better level on guitar than on piano.

That is one of my most favourite fragments on Katie's songs.

The song is simply magical. I do looooooooooooooooooove the piano version (for me slightly better than the guitar version, because it acompanies better the amazing melodie).

Here Katie simply shows, what a great songwriter she is. The lyrics are just great, the melodie fits perfect, and how Katie sings it I don't have to mention. Just divine.

Is there a guitar version of this song?
Where can I find it? :strum: :strum: :strum:

It's beautiful even without tune.

I thought 5-7 times a day was the average for each song :happyk:

Same for me. But I often have some song of her's in mind when I go to university in the morning or just at some time in between. Then I "hear" it without actually listening to it.

Same with me, but today I've been humming someone else's song  Am I getting over my addiction?
