I do love that song, but for me that are two totally differnt songs. Katie's part and the other part. Katie is really divine. I looooooooooooooooove her way of singing in that song. Absolutely Amazing.

There's too little of her singing in it to make it a real "Katie song" to me. And anyway, I somehow find the melody rather irritating. Don't like it.

Once, which is also the title of Kid Harpoon's debut album, is a B-side song featuring a duet with Katie Melua. Tom Hull enlisted her help during a session with Steve Lamacq's In New Music We Trust radio show on July 13 at Maida Vale studios in a residential area of West London. The guest band included Jack Penate, Seb Roachford and Simon Tong.

The recording was only released in limited 7" vinyl on Oct 5, 2009 in selected retailers.

Lyrics:
once, i was a dog for you once,
a cold-hearted tongue to your beauty,
my beast dead on my feet again, once.

and

(Katie)
once, you bred like the plague with me, once
night and day, and to entertain you,
i'd play the fool for you once

chorus
now it's all gone, i miss you here,
laughing at things
once we could have been something
more than bitter arguments
which is how our romance went once
i loved you....

(Katie)
once, sat watching the door for you, once
fell asleep on the phone waiting,
til you came home,
broken and cold to me, once

once, and never to be again once,
you held me back with no one to call,
a friend to you no more, once,

chorus x 1

When I played the 7" for the first time I started with the B side :joyjoy:

IMO, they should have changed the A and B side

I love this song obviously with Katie, she gave this song second better life, if it doesn't Katie I would never have heard this song. Katie is there such a ray of sunshine on a cloudy sky. Her voice is very good harmony with the wonderful music.
