We can not forget her #1 hit together with Eva - What A Wonderful World
I really hope to hear this live one day.

I see trees of green,
red roses too,
I see them bloom for me and you,
and I think to myself
what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue and clouds of white,
the bright blessed day,
the dark sacred night,
and I think to myself
what a wonderful world.
The colour of the rainbow,
so pretty in the sky
are also on the faces
of people goin' by,
I see friends shakin' hands,
sayin' "how do you do!"
They're really sayin'
"I love you,"
I hear babies cry,
I watch them grow.
They'll learn much more
than I'll ever know
and I think to myself
what a wonderful world.
Yes, I think to myself
what a wonderful world.

It goes to prove that Katie does not need to prance around around a stage to show how great she is.

It's beautifully mixed if that's the right term. Their harmonies are amazing considering the situation. I would like to know how the song was recorded. Did Katie sing it while listening to Eva singing it or did she manage her timing so well that the voices just fitted together?

She certainly goes for the big names with her covers! This one works, no doubt, and Louis Armstrong would be proud. :)

I don't know if you ever watched the programme Xmas Eve 2006 when she did the duet impossible with Eva Cassidy singing Over the Rainbow. It was absolutely wonderful and one of the BBC production engineers registered with us on Melualand. He said that he and everyone else was so amazed when she came into the studios, she was so well prepared that they were able to shoot the whole thing in one take.

No I didn't see that I'm afraid, but it doesn't surprise me. Katie is dedicated, no doubt. So are you saying that she was listening to Eva as she sang or not?

Yes, 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' is a tiny little bit better then 'WAWW' :approve: :approve: Maybe of the factor it was recorded live.

I also remember that someone told as she was asked, she first planned a duet impossible with Freddie Mercury, but then she decided to do it with Eva. Katie did it right :approve: :approve:

I do agree so much with you Wolfgang. Problem is it made me cry and it still makes me weep buckets if I am not careful. It is a great shame that together with the gentleman that runs the Eva Cassidy group we did try very, very hard to get them to release it as a single for charity.

Where to start here? Sublime, beautiful, magical, unpeachable....
The first Christmas standard from the 21st century. Should have been number one for longer.

Please Katie; do this song at the O2 gig!!!! We all missed at the RAH. :(

Absolutely amazing!

I like the duet, but the Christmas solo is even better IMO (sorry Eva)... But what else could I expect when a Wonderful song is sung by a Wonderful singer? :justk:

I'm sure, it won't be Katie's last No.1 Single Hit.

For me this two duets of Katie with Eva are masterpieces and show, what two brilliant singes and musicians can do without much modern technic around them. For me, this is a milestone in the music!!

I have to tell you something:

My mother visit me today and want me to make a photo slide show on the computer for burning it on CD as a birthday gift for a friend of her. As the slideshow was ready there was the question about the background music and she had no idea what to use. So I introduced her to WAWW of Katie & Eva and my mother said 'Oh, what an amazing song!' - she only knew the original from Louis Amstrong before.

So I also have to say everytime how surprised I am how harmonical and quite this track sounds and in this particular case it fits so perfectly to the presentation of an anniversary. :approve: :approve:

I was really surprised this morning. During my work I heard this song :o

Finally :approve:

We get music by satellite, so no radio station, but this song isn't officially released (yet) in my country.......

I'm not complaining though

That's a magical version of this (equally magical) song. I remember that when I listened to Katie's version of 'What a wonderful world' for the first time, I felt like listening to her version of Bob Dylan's 'blowin' in the wind '- perfect ;]

I'm bombarding the radio stations in southern Germany / Switzerland, asking to play that song. No response yet.

Since this is one of my favorite songs, and Louis Armstrong is one of my favorite singers, I was curious how Katie would handle it. Wow! This girl can sing. This song really showcases her voice and talent. I very much enjoyed it.

I still like the Louis Armstrong version the best... nobody--not even Katie--can outdo Pops, but my oh my... this girl can sing.

Most people ruin this song, when you compare their performance to LA, but not Katie. She did a beautiful job.
