How can I stand 2 stay where I am?
Poor butterfly who don't understand
Why can't I fly away in a special sky?
If I don't find my destiny soon
I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon

I want 2 live life 2 the ultimate high
Maybe I'll die young like heroes die
Maybe I'll kiss U some wild special way
If nobody kills me or thrills me soon
I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon

That's alright

Lovers like us dear are born 2 die
If they don't find us, what will we do?
I guess we'll make love under the cherry moon
I'll die in your arms under the cherry moon

There's no YouTube of Katie singing this, only Prince who originally sang it and some other versions for obscure bits of fantasy clips (have a look on YT).
I didn't like this when I first heard it a fortnight ago. Now it's one of my favourites. The lyrics are so interesting! I love 'Maybe I'll kiss you some wild special way'

I remember telling Barbara I didn't like it, so there's a lesson for her here. Barbara, have a second listen to Blue Shoes and Kozmic Blues and you will love them both!!

Sorry to disillusion you but I don't like this one and never have. Way down the bottom of my list with Blue Shoes, Looking for Clues and definitely Kosmic Blues. Sorry 'old sport'

For a long time I've only know the short sample of this song from iTunes. Maybe the hard and long way how I get it, made this song kind for me, I like it very much!

Otherwise if there is a Katie song I don't like so much, I start to deal with it, to hear it more often etc. in order to find a special fragment and bring the song something closer to me

As I first downloaded 'Under The Cherry Moon' I had the same feeling about this song as many other froum members: I didn't like it. So I only listened to it one time and then never.

Then I forgot about this song and later I transfered the whole 'Katie Melua' folder to my mp3player. As I listened to her music on my new mp3player there suddenly started a song I didn't know from the ver first moment and I thought 'Hey, is this right here?' and then Katie began to sing 'Under The Cherry Moon' and I thought 'WooooW! Wonderful!'

Since this time it is one of my favourites. :) :)

There is something wrong in this Song for me. I can´t say what is it maybe only a feeling.

It is not my favourite song.

It is exactly the same for me. When I first downloaded it I did play it quite a lot trying to figure out why I didn't like it, but I couldn't.

Prince is one of the greatest musicians of our days, and I would like Katie to sing more of his songs.

That song has quite a strange sound, I don't like it either. But as the others, I'm unable to say precisely why I don't like it. :?

That's because there's nothing wrong with it!

This song isn't that bad. They should have made it number 13 on her last album.......

why that stupid I-tunes bonus track thing?

On the other hand, I was hoping she'd covered another song of Prince...

I really like this song. I downloaded it from I-tunes but it´s worth being published at least at a B-side of one of Katies singles.

You're taking a bit of persuading on some of these amazing Katie songs, my dear. UTCM I really didn't like at first, but now I find it almost hypnotic and very unusual.
Serious question :geek: : How many times do you listen to a song before giving up on it?

I listened to Cherry Moon a lot before I gave it up. It was part of my compilation which came on every morning. The more I listened to it the more I disliked it. So I made a new compilation but omitting that one. But like with two or three of them, I can't tell you why.

All right I'll let you off. There aren't songs that fall into that category for me, but there are one or two which I can hear too much of, notably ICFY and 9MB. Sometimes I turn them off, but it's only so that I don't start to dislike them!

Why don't you just have one more little listen to UTCM? :approve:

Like Mike says: Katie sings the sh.. out of that song. I love the way, she sings it. It has a special crazy feeling.

I also don't understand, why it hasen't been the 13th song on the album. Is Katie superstitious?? O.K. Than put a 14th song on the album ;) ;)

Could be, but I've never heard as much. Anyway, not a good enough reason not to put this on the album. I love it. :music:

The '4' in 14 is also an unlucky number. Should make it 15 songs. :)

UTCM is a strange sounding song, and Katie's version is infinitely more listenable than Prince's original recording.

Yes it is pretty strange, even the first note is odd. If I knew anything about music I'd say it was full of flats and sharps?
The words are what intrigue me most. Does anyone have an interpretation?
'If nobody kills me or thrills me soon....I'll die in your arms, UTCM'

If I venture to say once more that I don't like this track, do you think it might wake a few people up.

You had me going there! I saw UTCM: latest post MelvilleB. I thought you'd had moment of clarity, but alas it was a cheap trick!
