Seems to be a pretty divided audience for this one.

----------------------------------------------

It's crazy but I'm frightened
By the sound of the telephone, oh yeah
I'm worried that the caller
Might have awful news, oh my

Who knows these days where on earth
All the money goes, oh yeah
No doubt we could put it to a better use, oh my

You keep insisting that nobody showed you
How to keep relationships, oh yeah
Your daddy made a real good try, oh my

You said you knew all along
We could work it out, oh yeah
Do you have to make a fuss every time we fly?
I'm looking for clues

I'll have to make an effort now
Just to be serious, oh yeah
Nobody's gonna give you
The benefit of the doubt, oh my

Every time I pick a paper up
It's harder to believe the news
I'm gonna have to shake it up
And twist and shout, oh my

You can't do nothing that you don't
Put your mind to, oh yeah
I suspected all along
You were a dream come true, oh my

I'm never in the dark 'cause my heart
Keeps me well informed, oh yeah
I'm convinced that there's a way
Of getting through to you
I'm looking for clues

It's crazy but I'm frightened
By the sound of relationships, oh yeah
I swear we could put it to a better use

Do hurry, baby, you've forgotten
How to catch a night groove
You told all the callers you were not amused
I'm looking for clues

You keep insisting that nobody showed you
How to use a telephone, oh yeah
Nobody's gonna give you a second chance, oh my

I don't have to make an effort now
To find out where the money goes, oh yeah
Do you have to make a fuss every time we dance?
I'm looking for clues

I'm looking for clues
I'm looking for clues
I'm looking for clues
...

----------------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------

I'm not a particularly big fan of this song, I must say. Although it's not the worst song i've ever heard :P

All I can say in it's favour is that for me it comes above Blue Shoes. :joyjoy: :joyjoy: :joyjoy:

A cover of Robert Palmer's original. Looking for Clues is the fifth track on the Nancy Drew (2007) soundtrack.

Written by Robert Palmer
Produced by Ralph Sall and Mike Batt

Robert Palmer's original music video.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=1S9Or_bEGQI
http://youtube.com/watch?v=28JRmzaxvJw (alternate link, better sound quality)

Robert Palmer's 1981 TV recording.

Katie's version sounds too literal and lacks the style in Palmer's delivery. Not a favourite of mine, also.

I fully understand why a lot of people don't like this song: too 80's comercial pop and totally the opposite of what we think she represents. But I do like this style since it shows she can do very mainstream music...and well. :approve:
Of course, if her career depended on this kind of music she wouldn't have become what she is today...

I think it's pleasant enough, Like Barbara I turn off Blue shoes but I don't this one. I think its cheeky, cheesy and I like it. As Jos said above though, if this were the type of Music she was turning out all the time she wouldn't be where she is today. Welcome bit of light hearted change though.

As I've said before, it's not one of my favourites but I've come to like it anyway. The thing I don't understand is why has Katie been asked to do this? (Unless the person in charge was a Katie fan, which I can totally understand! :D)

In my opinion, that's her worst song so far. The lyrics are banal and all this "oh yeah" and "oh my" in between are a pain in my neck. And the melody is absolutely weird, especially the short guitar solo in between which I absolutely can't stand.

I agree completely. And the music is terrible. I just can't stand anything that sounds like that. :x

It is not one of my favourite but in my opinon it is not so worse. I am also a big fan of the original version and back in 1981 I bought the vinyl single of Robert Palmer. :) :)

this is also not my favorite. It's not her style...

This song misses every magic compared to songs like "spider's web", "I cried for you" and "what I miss about you"

Yes, that´s my opinion, too. But I wouldn´t say that it´s the worst song, in my opinion it´s the 2´nd worst one. There´s another very worse song, but I don´t tell you again the name of the song I mean

Having said that we can close this topic now. :e:
No, I’m joking. I don’t like this song at all, it’s probably one of the worst of my whole CD collection even though it’s sung by Katie. I can’t stand it, honestly.

No Jo's Room,you are not alone :)
I like this song very much, because:
1) It's a very catchy song (and personnally I can't resist :D )
2) It's a very different song in Katie's repertoire, but she proves she can sing Rock very well :D
3) In this song,Katie's voice is perfect,irresistible...and really "rocky";she makes (as very often) miracles.

In (nearly) the same style I am fond of Straight to DVD :approve:

I love that song. Katie rocks!!!

Here she shows, that her amazing, divine voice also fits to up-tempo songs.

Also big compliment to Henry. He rocks too!!!
