A very old favourite of mine

And now the purple dusk of twilight time
Steals across the meadows of my heart
High up in the sky the little stars climb
Always reminding me that we’re apart

You wander down the lane and far away
Leaving me a song that will not die
Love is now the stardust of yesterday
The music of the years gone by

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely nights dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was true
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song

Beside a garden wall
When stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
A paradise where roses bloom
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love’s refrain

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely nights dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
Though I dream in vain
In my heart it will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love’s refrain

Another classic standard given the great Melua touch. To be enjoyed sitting on a comfy chair with a glass of wine. 8-)

I love that song. Katie shows the ability also to sing such classics in her typical maner. I loved when she sung that song together with White Cloves of Dove at the VE-Day

I do really like this cover. Was it Nat King Cole who sang it originally? I suppose Nat was a little before my time, so Katie's version doesn't cause me any of the conflicts I get with White Cliffs. ;)

"Hoagy Carmichael (1899-1981) is remembered today as one of America's great composers of popular songs. Several of his tunes, like "Star Dust" ,"Georgia on My Mind" ,"Up The Lazy River", "Lazybones", "Skylark" and "Heart and Soul" have become standards which are still widely performed.
...
He recorded the first version of "Stardust" in 1927."

Amazingly wonderful cover by Katie... I'm so moved by it tonight... It'll become one of my next favourites for sure... I want more Katie in this style of music, she sings it like no one, but we already knew that :D :music: :music:

I second that. That kind of music style (is it SWING??) fits perfectly to Katie's voice.

Actually, the swing isn't a music style but a part of jazz, I mean, you often swing when you play the jazz. And you're right, it fits her voice perfectly, and I don't know if she knows it but she has a unbelievable feeling for jazz... :music:

I'm shocked that I haven't rated this song yet

A few days ago, when I was visiting my brother who lives in the same street as I, he played this song performed by somebody else. I said, wait a minute, I know a better version :e:

To me this is an under-rated Katie song

I have always noticed unusual Brodway character of this song. :approve:
