(This song has been realeased as a single on the 15th March 2004)

--
Lyrics:

Original Version (variations):
I won't spend my life
Waiting for an angel to descend
Searching for a rainbow with an end
Now that I've found you I'll call off the search
And I won't spend my life (And I won't spend my days)
Gazing at the stars up in the sky
Wondering if love will pass me by (Wondering if love could pass me by)
Now that I've found you I'll call off the search

Out on my own
I would never have known this world
That I see today
And I've got a feeling
It won't fade away

And I won't end my days
Wishing that love would come along (Waiting for an angel to descend)
Because you are in my life where you belong
Now that I've found you I'll call off the search

INSTRUMENTAL

Now that I've found you I'll call off the search
Now that I've found you I'll call off the search

--

Better quality than the former one. Listen to the "IiiiIiI won't" at 1'48... Perfection.

A divine version of her song. Marvellous.

Call Off The Search. An amazing song composed by Mike for Katie. A song that moves so much and show how wonderful Katie Melua is. One of her best song definitely, maybe my favourite. The more she sings this song, the more the song belongs to her. Just listen to the two live videos above and stay quiet. Such a level she reached... This is the pinnacle of music mates, now that I found Katie I Call Off The Search.

I don't hear it that oftently as I should. but this is definetly one of her signature tunes: when I do hear it I eel like floating on air. It's breathtakingly beautiful, particularly when performed live!!

This is a lovely jazzy song...

I don't even like jazz at all

I hope she'll record an entire album someday with this kind of songs :music:

Call Off the Search has a special feeling. it just makes you feel fine. It's like a good red wine. It becomes better as older it gets. Also for me, clearly one song for katie's "best off" album. I agree, that it's a pity, that she doesn't play it during the tour. But also Kosmic Blues is great. There should be both of them.

I like the way she uses her voice. This song shows her at her best, she has a great vocal range and ability to create an image in ones mind with the way she sings. I especially like her little 'no-o-ow that i've found you'....for me it's the best part of the song.

For me there are three songs which belongs together: 'Call Of The Serach', 'Deep Purple' and 'Stardust' :) I don't know why but for me this three songs from the melody are a kind of triology.

I also was very sad that she has left it out for the recent tour :( :( I count it also to my favourite songs.

A masterpiece.

I agree with KEWA. Like fine wine, it gets better with age. Very underrated. Good wine needs no bush; people will discover the quality of this song for themselves with time and patience.

I have it the same way, it's a masterpiece.
And it allways fail me how Katie say she don't have make any real contribution to the music world.
With all these wonderful song she have made, and they will last for at least a 100 years.

Yes quite right, I meant to say 'I Cried for You' not 'Piece by Piece'. Always get those mixed up for some reason. I've been worrying about this all day!

Actually you're lucky to had I Cried for You, Katie didn't sing it when I went to her gig in Paris... But she was tired and I forgive her of course ! The gig was amazing anyway. I'd like to be as great as her when I'm tired

'Call off the search' is one of the best openings I've ever heard. It's sounds a little lazy but has an unbelievable magic. In my opinion that song might be a gate to Katie's word for everyone who just starts listening to her. That atmosphere that acompanies COTS is essential Katie Melua. We could even use this tittle permutably with her name. It's like a gate from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. After listening to COTS nothing is the same as before :)

And KEWA is absolutly right, he might be an oracle in Katie's topics. Well, actually he is one just now :P

I agree, one would have to go a long way to beat Call of the Search and Closest thing to Crazy.

We all want her to sing this song live, but what's going to happen in the future?

The more songs she can choose from, the more she will skip :(

You can't have them all, personally I'm not so keen on medleys, just when you right in the middle of a song, it suddenly changes
