This is not only my favourite song from katie, but also my all time favourite. It it so wonderful and brilliant. The lyrics just breathtakeing and when the music changes it sends me the shivers up and down my spine.
This will become the Katie classic, that is sure for me.
Lyrics: Missing the train every morning at 8:52, Sipping coffee from the same cup as you. The sharing of secrets we thought no one else knew, That’s what I miss about you.
The new way that love had made me see, Your bashful grin when you asked if I would like your key. The knowing way you used to caress me, That’s what I miss about you.
You stole in with your starry smile exciting me, Driving with you in your new car, feeling free. If it's true that love is blind, then I was blind willingly, You made me feel we had a future, that could be and would be.
The way you said I’d be no one on my own, Your habit of soaking yourself in over-priced cologne. The way you turned the light out when I knew you were home, That’s what I don’t miss about you.
I bet you’re using your weary magic like it’s new, Driving so fast with a new fool beside you. Presumably believing she’s the last of the lucky few, I wonder if she knows she’s being lied to like I do.
The way I only doubted myself when I was with you, Like I was a fool for expecting something from life too. Your skill of putting me down in-front of everyone we knew, That’s what I don’t miss about you.

In my personal list, it's not even in the Top10 and I never understood the widespread enthusiasm about it. It's not even the best song on "Pictures" for me.
Ok, as to What I Miss About You . I'm YES a lover a that song. But I get more weak with blues songs like Piece by Piece ore ballads like I Cried Foru You. WIMAY is a mere pop song.
Piece by Piece = Chianti Classico 2003 What I Miss About You = Rioja 2007

I remember as Katie played this song for the very first time - the summer concerts last year - she told, this would be maybe the next (the first)single of the album 'Pictures'.
Later on as I heard the studio version of this track, I thought 'Wow, what a wonderful song this must be a hit!'
And then 'If You Were A Sailboat' come out as CD So let us see if it will come out now in the middle of May

Where to start? The superb lyrics (Andrea McEwan definately played big part here though not underestimating Katie's contribution), great melody, powerful vocal performance.....and that last note!!!! DAMM!!!! Never though she had it in her. A great track indeed.

Hey, where are the WIMAY lovers?
Another one here. It's definitely one of her very best songs, everything about it is brilliant! I love the line about turning the lights out. I like the song even better on piano, as I do with other songs. I find it hard to tell whether WIMAY would be a massive hit or make no impact at all. It could be another CTTC for Katie I think.

I'll start off by saying the opening chords and the lyrics are absolutely phenomenal. I especially love the imagery created by the lyrics.
"missing the train every morning at 8:52," "sipping coffee from the same cup as you" "Your bashful grin..." "You stole in with your starry smile..."
However, the hopes that this is a love song in the vein of The Closest Thing to Crazy, Nine Million Bicycles and Call Off the Search were dashed for me. Still a great song despite the change in tone. This is an anthem song for jilted lovers. I prefer romantic songs, so WIMAY ranks about ten spots lower than it should otherwise in my overall rankings.
Here I am KEWA! Even if I didn't put it N°1 overall, it was close, WIMAY is really wonderful and definitively the best song on Pictures IMO.
The lyrics are really good (again, thanks Andrea), and the way Katie sings it is amazing as always, and it's hard to find the best fragment as there are so many... from the beginning till the end actually

This is without a doubt in my top 5. Once again, I really love the lyrics to this song and I feel like it's something I can relate to, which IMO makes it even better.

For all those, who love that song. Help me in the ranking. Some guys tried to put that song down
I'm afraid I can't... I can't give +4 because I prefer SW, I can't give +3 because 1st or 2nd can hardly be considered under-rated... And if I give +2 or +1, there is a risk that the average will be less that if I didn't vote...

This is the problem. I know I'm being a bore, but the top song will always suffer with this marking

I'll help you, it's a great song, with great lyrics, that changes through the song, even as the music. But I recognize Andrea McEwan also in this song. When I saw her as preface (is it the right word?) of the concert April 13th, she had a few songs that were really great. So on Pictures they wrote WIMAY (and another song) together...perfect combination!

I reactivated that therad to discuss it once more. Lepton thinks, that the song is only average, but for me this is still Katie best song ever (only Spider's Web comes close to it). What du you guys this about the song??? Were do you see it???
I have already said which one are my favourite Katie's songs but i appereciate WIMAY. Someone on this forum said a nice phrase that it's like 'two songs in one' because of the lyrics and how the singer's opinion about the guy who's hero of the song changes. This is the best describtion for lyrics From the musical side i don't find it very special. I miss sth in that song that the others have (The intimicy of 'I cried for you', the power of piano solo in 'Spider's Web', both in 'Faraway voice' or the bluesy melody of 'Learning the blues'). It still stays on a good level but isn't so magical. As far as Pictures is a strange album which contains no such a big hits as Call off the search or Piece by piece i find WIMAY and 'What it says on a tin' two marking out songs. And it's strange because both of them didn't became bases for singles to this day. I put them both on my list in 'Your Katie Compil' and Playlists' topic. I think that you have to listen to them many times to find sth more in them. It's not easy if you stop on 'Mary Pickford', 'If the lights go out', 'Ghost town' and 'If you were a sailboat' which became signles. Pictures might bring you many surpises but you have to take it patiently and not concantrate only on 'top-songs'. Maybe it's hard for some people and that's why WIMAY still stays unappereciated?

OK, now it starts to get annoying. I never said it's average, it's on No.11 on my personal list, so that's not Top10 but far from average. It's the second best song on Pictures, after IYWAS, in my opinion. I just don't see how it could ever compete with such brilliant songs like Spider's web, I cried for you or TCTTC. You don't share that opinion, we all know. Don't start to pillory me know for having a different opinion on Looking for clues and WIMAY.
